What is Laser Tattoo Removal?

Laser tattoo removal is a process that allows individuals to embrace the future by effectively erasing the past. A laser specifically designed for tattoo removal emits a highly focused beam of light to the skin, targeting the darker colors in the ink rather than the lighter tones of the skin. When the laser's beam hits the ink, it shatters the particles into very fine fragments that become invisible to the eye and are small enough to be absorbed and eliminated by the body’s natural filtration (lymphatic) system.

The Ultralase Q-Switched Nd YAG Laser is a cutting-edge technology tailored for tattoo removal. This laser delivers powerful light to the skin in just a fraction of a second, minimizing the risk of overheating the surrounding skin, which greatly reduces the likelihood of scarring.

Typically, treatments are quick, and clients experience only minimal discomfort. However, the older the tattoo, the more treatments may be necessary.

How many treatments are necessary?

It is difficult to accurately predict the number of treatments required for tattoo removal, as it depends on the amount of ink used and how deeply it was inserted. Generally, most professional tattoos will require at least six to twelve treatments, with follow-up sessions conducted at intervals of no less than six weeks. It's worth noting that further fading may continue for several months after each treatment.

Can all types of tattoos be treated?

Most tattoos can be removed or significantly lightened, allowing individuals to truly embrace the future. Black, blue, and red tattoos tend to respond well to treatment, while aqua, green, and yellow tattoos may be more resistant, sometimes only achieving partial fading. White tattoos reflect laser light and, therefore, do not respond effectively to laser tattoo removal.

How frequent are the treatments?

Time is required between each treatment to allow the body’s lymphatic (cleaning) system to remove the ink that has been treated by the laser. A minimum period of six (6) weeks between treatments is recommended to help you embrace the future you desire.

How long after being tattooed can removal commence?

Removal can commence as soon as the tattoo has completely healed. Although it may appear healed within a week or two, the tattoo will still require further time to completely heal prior to removal commencing. A minimum period of six (6) weeks is advised, allowing you to erase the past effectively. Your initial consultation can take place at any time during the six weeks.

Can the area be re-tattooed?

Yes, the area can be re-tattooed following laser removal. Whether you have had complete removal, partial removal, or just lightening of the area, you will be able to be re-tattooed. The wish to replace an existing tattoo is a common reason for having laser tattoo removal.

Will the tattoo completely disappear?

In many cases, there will be a 100% clearance of the tattoo. On average, 95% fading is considered a good result. The result depends upon the colour and type of ink used as well as the depth of penetration of the ink in the skin. Your therapist can discuss with you the likeliness of success during your initial consultation.

What are the costs likely to be?

Treatment costs will vary depending on the size, colour, and time required to treat the tattoo. This can be discussed during your initial consultation.
